About The Speaker
Dr. Placzek is a mission-driven research epidemiologist who has been involved in applied public health for 20 years. Most recently she has led the Medical Economics and Outcomes team at Ontrak focusing on measuring the financial impact of innovative care delivery models for behavioral health and mental health care models within digital and telehealth environments as well as establishing use cases for how, when (and if) to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to guide decision-making in clinical settings. Dr. Placzek brings academic rigor to health organizations looking to make people healthier and happier while lowering costs, and she has partnered with payers, government agencies, integrated health networks, and community-based organizations during her professional experience. Her work as a first author and contributing researcher has been presented at national conferences and webinars, and published in journals such as PLoS Medicine, Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, Vaccine, BMC Public Health, and American Journal of Public Health. Dr. Placzek’s methodological training includes Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Boston University School of Public Health. She has a PhD in Clinical and Population Health Research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, an MPH in Global Health/Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health, and a BA in French and Chemistry from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. She has served as Affiliate Faculty at Ariadne Labs since 2016.
